| Description of accident: | "the flight instructor reported that after landing he observed smoke coming from the left lower engine cowling area. The pilot stated that after shutting the engine down and upon further inspection, thermal damage had occurred to the rear of the engine compartment... A subsequent examination of the damage by a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) airworthiness inspector revealed thermal damage to the firewall and all 4 engine mounts..." [NTSB SEA07LA170] |

One wingtip is dented. It was reported that dry chemical fire retardant was sprayed into the cockpit when smoke was seen coming out from the panel. There may be damage to the avionics. One motor mount is broken and there are missing access panels on the bottom of the wing. |
